The Queensland Practice Direction No. 8 of 2001 – Family Provision – is currently under review by the District Court. One aspect that is under consideration by the Court is whether there should be an early directions hearing in each case. In response to a consultation led by Judge Dorney QC, the STEP Queensland branch committee has recently provided a submission regarding the proposed changes to the Practice Direction and has raised some issues for further consideration.
