SEMINAR: Trust Distributions – Traps and avoiding disasters

Deficient trust management can contribute to disputes between beneficiaries and trustees and lead to contested litigation. There are many lessons that clients and professional advisors can learn from recent cases on how to avoid traps and maximise the tax and other benefits that working with Trusts can offer. This presentation will identify some of the more important guiding practice principles through an analysis of recent cases. In particular, this session will look a providing practical guidance on:

• What can go wrong with trust administration.
• Obligations of advisors; and
• Entity record keeping.

This session is aimed at practice management and risk minimisation and highlights practical steps that can be taken to avoid some of the issues that come before the Courts. Case studies relevant to some of the areas discussed in the paper are included at the end.

Registration for STEP Members is free however as this is a catered event, registration is required by the cut off date, Tuesday 21 November 2023.
