Understanding the impact of family trust distribution tax and the proposed minimum tax on discretionary trusts
Australia’s trust taxation regime continues to evolve, creating new challenges for advisers, trustees and estate planning practitioners. This session will discuss the latest developments affecting trusts and succession planning, with a particular focus on family trust elections (FTEs), family trust distribution tax (FTDT), and the proposed minimum tax on discretionary trusts.
The session will cover:
- The purpose and operation of FTEs
- Identify when FTDT can arise and how to avoid common traps
- Assess the impact of the proposed minimum tax measures on discretionary trusts.
