| It has come to our attention that some members of STEP have received emails asking whether they are interested in acquiring the Registrants/Attendees list of 1,000 contacts for the STEP Australia National Incapacity Conference (Sydney, NSW, Australia, 3-5 August 2025). This type of email has unfortunately become increasingly common. They are signed off by a Business Executive using a variety of names and email addresses without mention of any firm and may contain highlighted text. These emails are fraudulent and have been reported to STEP Worldwide in London. You need not be alarmed. STEP Australia adheres to strict privacy principles. Our conference delegate information is kept secure and strictly confidential. We have not authorised the release of delegate information to anyone. Our Privacy Policy sets out the very limited circumstances when we may lawfully share personal information. Except when authorised by law, we do not share personal information with third parties in any circumstances. If you receive such an email, do not respond or click on any links within it. Please forward the email to STEP’s Data Protection Officer, Colin Blomfield, at colin.blomfield@step.org and then delete the email. You may also wish to: 1. Forward it to us at step.australia@step.org so that we may keep track of the scam; and / or 2. Report it to Scamwatch (run by the National Anti-Scam Centre as part of the ACCC). Your report may help stop scammers and warn others. |
