Awards
STEP Australia Excellence Awards recognise exceptional and outstanding Australian TEPs. Open only to STEP Members in Australia, these Awards recognise and celebrate excellence among solicitors, lawyers, accountants, barristers, bankers, trust managers and financial advisors.
Award Entries for the 2025 STEP Australia Excellence Awards will open in March 2025.
STEP Australia
Masters Award
This award recognises an exceptional trust and estate practitioner who stands out from others in the field, and has been in professional practice for over 25 years. The winner will be a practitioner who has consistently demonstrated, over an extended period, advanced technical expertise, leadership and contribution to the profession and STEP over and above what might reasonably be expected. Nominees must be a full STEP member (TEP).
Award Criteria
- Areas of specialised expertise and how you as an advisor stand out from others in the field.
- Specific area(s) in which you have demonstrated your expertise.
- The extent of your commitment to continued professional development and to training others.
- Your contribution to STEP, your profession and the wider community.

Excellence Award

The winner will be a practitioner who has demonstrated advanced technical expertise, leadership and contribution to the profession and STEP over and above what might reasonably be expected. David Marks KC TEP is a commercial barrister, with particular experience in tax and revenue matters. As a barrister, he appears for taxpayers and the Revenue, honouring the cabrank rule. David also has a broader practice in trusts and estates, commercial and adminstrative law.

Susan Fielding TEP
2022 Founder’s Awards winner
Susan Fielding TEP was admitted to practice in 1970 and for a period of over 40 years worked firstly at E M Heenan & Co and then at Northmore Hale Davy & Leake (later Minter Ellison) in the private client area doing a wide variety of work. Susan then moved with the practice to Jackson McDonald until her retirement in 2019.
