At present, the rules of internet service providers, as well as the law, addressing who can access digital assets in situations where a person dies or becomes incapacitated, are unclear and far from uniform. A STEP Digital Assets International Working Group has therefore been established to address the emerging issues for STEP practitioners in this field, providing learning and resources, and campaigning for greater clarity and uniformity in international laws and among the T&Cs of internet service providers.
