STEP Victoria-Tasmania Seminar | Thursday 15 October 2026
STEP Victoria-Tasmania Branch invites you to a seminar with Daniel Trimarchi TEP, National Lead of Family Dynamics & Governance, KPMG Australia.
Topic: Beyond the baton pass – The evolution of succession and governance in multi-generational family enterprises
Historically succession in family enterprises was often viewed as a relatively straightforward transfer of leadership, ownership or control from one generation to the next. However, as families, ownership groups and family enterprises become more complex, many traditional assumptions about succession are being challenged.
Drawing on recent research and a whitepaper co-authored through the UHNW Institute, this session explores how succession is evolving from a focus on a single successor towards a broader concept of continuity, governance and stewardship. The discussion will examine the growing importance of ownership readiness, governance capability, decision-making structures and the role advisors play in helping families navigate multi-generational transitions.
